Calgary Metabolomics Research Facility (CMRF)

The CMRF features a state-of-the-art suite of laboratories that uniquely integrate Biosafety Level 2 microbiology spaces with advanced analytical instrumentation. The CMRF supports a wide range of in-house and collaborative research projects that seek to understand the metabolic complexities inherent to host-microbe interactions. Serving as the metabolomics lead of the International Microbiome Centre and the metabolomics hub of the CIHR IMPACTT pan Canadian Microbiome Core, the CMRF provides extensive metabolomics support to Canadian and international researchers.

Each year, the CMRF analyzes ~5,000 LC-MS samples and has supported over 67 PIs in publishing 40 research articles and counting. Through its service to the infectious disease research community, the CMRF has played a key role in several notable advances that describe the interaction between host and microbe, resulting in the publication of a number of articles in leading journals, including Science, Nature Communications, Cell, and the Journal of Biological Chemistry, among others.
